The CISS supports the Social Security Board of Antigua and Barbuda in data modernization to improve social security and public policies

  • Staff of the Social Security Board enhance their data analysis skills with Power BI
  • Technical assistance from CISS drives strategic processes and technological modernization

Mexico City, July 12, 2025 – With the aim of strengthening institutional processes and providing better inputs for decision-making, personnel from the Social Security Board of Antigua and Barbuda (SSBAB) participated in an intensive program on data analysis and visualization using Power BI. This tool allows for the creation of interactive dashboards, maps, charts, and dynamic models for data management.

This technical assistance was led by specialist Alejandro Moreno from the Executive Directorate of Research and Projects of the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS), within the framework of the work carried out by the American Commission on Organization and Administrative Systems.

Over the course of 30 hours distributed across 15 sessions, the SSBAB team explored the potential of Power BI through a hands-on approach tailored to their institutional context. Using real data and social security case studies, participants learned how to build models, key indicators, and useful dashboards to monitor areas such as pensions, registration, and benefits.

The program covered topics ranging from data acquisition and transformation with Power Query, to star schema modeling, the construction of calculated columns and measures using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX), as well as the creation of interactive visualizations and the online publication of reports for team collaboration.

This initiative not only strengthened individual and collective technical skills but also fostered a strategic vision for the use of data to promote continuous improvement within SSBAB, reaffirming its commitment to modernization and efficiency in internal processes.

Through its technical assistance, research, and projects program, CISS continues to support its member institutions in advancing digital transformation and capacity building, always with the goal of ensuring stronger and more people-centered social security systems.
