  • 1936

    Member States of the OIT recognize mandatory social insurance as the most effective means for providing social security.

  • 1939

    The principles signed in 1936 are ratified and extended in Havana, Cuba.

  • 1940

    In Peru, an Inter-American Committee on Social Security Initiatives is instructed.

  • 1942

    The CISS is constituted as a permanent cooperation entity.

  • 1952

    It is decided that the headquarters of the CISS be located in Mexico.

  • 1963

    Inauguration of the facilities in Mexico.

  • 1981

    Subscription of the first location Agreement between the CISS and Mexico.

  • 1988

    The CISS becomes an international organization of a permanent nature.

  • 2004

    The CISS subscribes the Declaration of Santo Domingo.

  • 2019

    A new management starts and the CISS focuses its work on research, cooperation for welfare and the promotion of public policies.
