The main objective of the American Health, Welfare and Social Security Commission (CASBSS) is to promote the health, safety and social welfare of workers and its mission is to strengthen institutions for the development and implementation of public policies and inclusive models of health care and occupational safety for human welfare.
The Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS) is an international organization that was formally created in 1942. In its 79+ years of existence, it has worked on Social Security and Welfare in the Americas.
Pursuant to its Bylaws, the Conference consists of foundational bodies, such as: a) the General Assembly; b) the Standing Committee; c) the General Secretariat; d) the American Commissions on Social Security (CASS); e) the Inter-American Center on Social Security Studies (CIESS); f) the Controller’s Office; and g) the Sub-Regions.
CASS are bodies specialized in relevant topics of interest to the Americas and the Caribbean, discussing relevant matters that are cross-sectional with Social Security. CASS are the technical support bodies coordinated by CISS as to meet its goals and targets. CISS currently has Six Commissions.
